World Refugee Day Creative Writing Workshop – for students aged 11-13 (Years 7-8)

World Refugee Day, held on June 20, aims to raise awareness to the plight of millions of refugees around the globe and to support their human rights.

The theme of Refugee Week 2021 takes inspiration from Martin Luther King’s historic words, ‘We Cannot Walk Alone’. It’s an invitation to extend your hand to someone new. Someone who is outside your current circle, has had an experience you haven’t, or is fighting for a cause you aren’t yet involved in.

Through the medium of creative writing, this workshop will be a space to listen, exchange and connect ideas, enabling participants to gain a greater understanding of how we can learn from each other, and what we can build together.

Date: Sunday 20th June 2021

Time: 2pm – 3.30pm

Location: Watling Tutors Classroom, Unit 21D Battlers Green Farm, Common Lane, Radlett WD7 8PH.

Cost: This workshop is free to attend, but we will ask for a £10 deposit as places are limited. After the event, and once your student has attended, you then have the option of a refund or we will make a donation on your behalf to charity.

At the moment, we are only working on a maximum capacity of 10 students owing to our commitment to being Covid secure. This is subject to change, depending on government guidance, but we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
