After completing a BA in English, with a specific focus on creative writing, Lauren worked with primary aged children in various roles. Some of her previous teaching includes running a journalistic after school club in Chicago and as Clinician Assistant in a therapeutic school for children on the Autism spectrum. Lauren has vast experience supporting children with ASD and she recently worked at a school for children on the Autism spectrum aged 2 to 14, supporting the headteacher with a therapeutic curriculum and consulting with related service providers.
Lauren has a dedication to teach writing to children of varying ages, but she also has a specialism in supporting pupils with ASD. She recently completed training in the DIR-floortime intervention model which uses relationships to improve communication and positive behaviours. One of Lauren’s former colleagues explained how she is ‘warm, patient, and establishes a wonderful connection with her students’. Another referee also stated that she ‘imparts information in a way that students can understand.’
